Local Green Spaces

We would be grateful if you could supply, in electronic format, information on:

1. the number, name (where known), location and size of areas designated as ‘Local Green Space’ (in accordance with the definition set by the NPPF) within current (adopted or made) development plan documents within your local authority area.

Devon County Council has designated no areas as ‘Local Green Space’ in accordance with the definition set by the National Planning Policy Framework; nor is it likely to in the future. This is because this task is more relevant to District Councils and Unitary Authorities who produce Local Plans through which such areas should be designated. Whilst Devon County Council does lead in the production of a Waste and a Minerals Local Plan for Devon, this particular designation is unlikely to be relevant to such specialist plans.

Contact information for district councils and unitary can be found on our website at: Neighbouring authorities

2. which development plan document (adopted local plan or made neighbourhood plan) each local green space is defined in, and the year the plan was adopted or made.
3. the reasons for their designation. The NPPF gives guidance on justifying a local green space designation due to beauty, historical significance, recreational value, tranquillity or richness of wildlife. We would like to know whether the local green space falls into one or more of these categories.

Following our response to question 1 above, we do not hold any information regarding questions 2 and 3.
