Learn Devon and arts, crafts and language courses

I have had a separate email exchange with Learn Devon about the cancellation of art courses, which informed me that “The decision to alter the provision was made based on a recommendation to the Economy, Enterprise & Skills Senior Management Team in May 2023. A review of course enrolment in June 2023 revealed a significant decline in attendance and uptake due to the return to fee-paying learning at local centres and the challenges posed by the current cost of living crisis. Consequently, we have been forced to cancel numerous courses, and the arts and crafts courses have been particularly affected by these high cancellation rates. “

I would like to be directed to this decision and provided with the data that was used to make the recommendation. In addition, I would like to have the enrolment and cancellation data for the last two years, so that I can understand if there was a significat fall-off in enrolment that justifies this decision, considering that it is at odds with the Strategic Plan which specifically states under the heading of Improving Mental Health “We provide bespoke art courses supporting learners in improving their confidence and wellbeing.”

We can confirm that the decision to alter the provision was taken in May 2023.  We do not hold any minutes of the part of the meeting where the decision was taken.  The decision was taken with reference to the  Learn Devon Strategy  which was provided to the meeting

We can confirm that the data regarding enrolment and cancellation can be confirmed as follows:
