An article by Westcountry News regarding the LTN trial in Exeter had a quote attributed to Devon County Council which said:
“We are also continuing to liaise with all emergency services throughout the trial.”
There had been concerns about ambulances being blocked getting to patients but the Council states South Western Ambulance Service were “unaware of any adverse incident reports attributable to the scheme.”
We are aware of at least 5 recorded (stills or video evidence) incidents where Ambulances on emergency calls have been blocked at either Hamlin Lane or Vaughan Road and have had to re-route, thus impairing their response time.
Can I therefore request who made that quote to ITV Westcountry and request any correspondence with South West Ambulance service which supported that statement.
In response, information has been collated into this Heavitree and Whipton – Emergency Vehicles webpage.
Some information has been redacted in grey. This is because we consider this information is exempt under Section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act (Personal Data).
Devon County Council cannot disclose personal information, if releasing it would contravene any of the provisions in the Data Protection Act 2018.
In this instance we believe that the release of this information would contravene the first data protection principle and therefore Section 40(2) is applied.
