Flooding, Mental Health and Potholes

Under Freedom of Information, I would be grateful if you could provide the following information:

1. Flashing Flooding

a. How many insurance liability claims have you received in the last three calendar years (2024, 2023, 2022) related to surface water flooding (i.e. flash flooding)? For each year, please provide the number of claims received and the number paid out, including the total cost to the council and insurer.

2024 – 8 claims – nil paid out

2023 – 15 claims – nil paid out

2022 – 2 claims – nil paid out

2. Mental Health Absence

a. If possible, please can you share how many primary school children are currently seeking help for mental health conditions (including stress, depression, anxiety etc.)

b. If possible, please can you share how many secondary school aged children are currently seeking help for mental health conditions (including stress, depression, anxiety etc.)

c. If possible, please can you share how many primary school aged children are currently waiting for help for mental health conditions (including stress, depression, anxiety etc.) and the average length of time children of this age are waiting for help (on average).

d. If possible, please can you share how many secondary school aged children are currently waiting for help for mental health conditions (including stress, depression, anxiety etc.) and the average length of time children of this age are waiting for help (on average).

e. How many sick days were taken by staff (including heads, assistant heads and deputies, teachers and support staff) in schools for mental health conditions (including stress, depression, anxiety etc) in the following academic years: 2024/25, 2023/24 and 2022/23?

f. What was the average number of days taken, by those who took time off in schools, for mental health conditions in: 2024/25, 2023/24 and 2022/23?

3. Potholes

a. How many claims for pothole-related damage did the council receive from drivers in: 2024 (to date), 2023 and 2022 registered and number of potholes repaired?

b. How many claims resulted in the council paying out to drivers in: 2024 (to date), 2023 and 2022?

Note: The averages are calculated based on the number of days between the report of a pothole and a repair being made.

* For Cat 1 Potholes this is based on working days (i.e. weekends and holidays are excluded).

* For Cat 2 Potholes (and above) this is based on calendar days (i.e. weekends and holidays are included).

e. If possible, can out provide the number of potholes that you are aware of that need repairing?

As of the 11the December 2024, 774 safety defect potholes have been inspected or assessed and are with our contractor awaiting repair and 159 public reports of potholes are awaiting assessment.
