Electric Vehicle Chargers

1. How many public electric car charging points currently exist in your council area which you either own and/or manage? Please break this down by the type of charger they are.

Devon County Council (DCC) public EV chargepoints are run via a concessions contract model, where Chargepoint Operators (CPOs) own and operate.  As such DCC do not own or operate public EV chargepoints. However, DCC do manage chargepoint contracts relating to public highway, DCC, Torbay Council and District Council land.  The breakdown is shown in the table below.

2. How many new public electric car charging points are you planning on installing in your council area in the next 2 years that you will own and/or manage? Please break this down by the type of charger they will be.

Our plans for the next two years is the delivery of the Electric Vehicle Charging Strategy adopted in January 2024, found here – Devon Electric Vehicle Charging Strategy – Have your say. As part of the Devon & Torbay LEVI project, DCC are aiming to deliver thousands of chargepoints over the next few years.  The tenders for this project are currently being evaluated and we expect to be able to confirm the total numbers that the winning suppliers will deliver in the coming months.

3. How many requests for more public electric car charging points have you received from residents in your council area since 1.1.24?

We have no record of such a request under the EVI category of our customer enquiry system, from October 2024 when the category was introduced, to date.
