I am hereby requesting information under the Freedom Of Information Act 2000 with regards to statistics around EHC Plans in Devon under the care of the Devon County Council.
1. The information I am requesting pertains to the number of EHCP reviews that were requested in 2023 and 2024 and what the outcome of those requests has been.
2. I am particularly requesting information on the total numbers of EHCPs which were maintained versus total numbers of EHCPs which were amended/ updated.
3. I also would like to know how big the backlog on EHCP reviews was by the end of the calendar year 2023 and in comparison to this 2024 (same criteria).
This information is exempt from disclosure under Section 22 of the Freedom of Information Act (Information Intended for Future Publication)
Devon County Council can confirm the requested information is held but is intended for future publication in May 2025 and will be published at the following link Education, Health and Care Plans: England 2025. Given the publication date is in line with accepted practices, it is reasonable to withhold this information.
The Council has considered the public interest in releasing this information and recognises there is a public interest in openness and transparency. However, it is not reasonable to divert resources from core functions to release this information in advance of its planned publication date and therefore, the balance of public interest weighs in favour of withholding this information from disclosure at this time.
