1. Where possible, the amount of miles of dedicated cycle routes in existence in your local authority area on 28/10/2024.
Devon County Council does not hold this information.
2. Where possible, the amount of miles of cycle routes established in the past 6 years in your local authority area with a breakdown for each calendar year. This time period should include (01/01/2018-01/01/2023) and where possible (01/01/2024-28/10/2024).
Devon County Council no longer keeps records of this information. Please see the link below to a previous Freedom of Information request with figures from previous years:
3. Where possible, the amount of money spent on cycling infrastructure in the past 6 years in your local authority area with a breakdown for each calendar year. This time period should include (01/01/2018-01/01/2023) and where possible (01/01/2024-28/10/2024).
Money spent relating to cycling improvements and infrastructure in the past 6 years:
Year | Funding |
2018/19 | £ 3,213,815 |
2019/20 | £ 3,295,912 |
2020/21 | £ 4,079,744 |
2021/22 | £ 2,292,127 |
2022/23 | £ 3,839,533 |
2023/24 | £ 5,833,526 |
Please note, DCC have tried to pull out the cycling schemes, however this is not straightforward as very often schemes target multiple road user groups and so may also deliver improvements for pedestrians, public transport users and vehicles. Therefore, the figures above include schemes where a significant proportion of the cost/aspect of the project was to improve infrastructure for cyclists.
This does means that there will be some cases where spend will be included that did not go directly towards cycling infrastructure (although it will have been spent as part of a cycling related scheme), and other cases where cycling infrastructure spend has been excluded as its delivery made up a smaller proportion of a scheme.
Also note this is the the total budget/spend and does not separate out feasibility design from the actual delivery of infrastructure.
4. Where possible, the amount of money spent on cycle and scooter share schemes in the past 6 years in your local authority area with a breakdown for each calendar year. This time period should include (01/01/2018-01/01/2023) and where possible (01/01/2024-28/10/2024).
Please note, the cycle share scheme Co-Bikes used to operate under Co-Cars until the company went into administration in 2023 therefore we do not hold information from 2023 onwards.
