Cycle Infrastructure

1. The value / cost of the improvements made to the cycle network / infrastructure in your area in the last three years (broken down by year if possible). If not all this data is available, then please supply whatever is available. If the data is only available by financial year rather than calendar year, this is also fine.

Our capital expenditure on walking and cycling over the past 5 years is as follows:
2020/21: £6.229m (budget rather than spend as 2020/21 accounts are yet to be audited)
2019/20: £3.471m
2018/19: £3.225m
We only hold the total budget/spend on active travel (walking and cycling) and do not have the breakdown, for instance separating out feasibility design from actual delivery of infrastructure.

2. A brief outline of the improvements made

The reports from the Environment, Economy and Culture Directorate Committee  for 2018/19,  2019/20  and  2020/21 and be seen here

3. The budget set aside for planned improvements to the cycle network / infrastructure in your area in the next two years (broken down by year if possible

This is contained within the  Cabinet report – Transport Capital Programme

Appendix 1 sets out the active travel priorities for Countywide & Major Schemes; Exeter and East Devon Growth Area and Market and Coastal Towns

4. A brief outline of the planned improvements. Planned improvements could include those anticipated and those confirmed.

Please refer to the information provided in response to question 3.

5. Current percentage of roads in your area that feature cycle lanes

We do not hold this information

6. Current total distance of cycle lanes in your area

We do not hold this information

7. Current estimated number of frequent cyclists in your area

We are unable to estimate this number based on the limited count information we hold. The available map shows where our historic automatic cycle counters are across the County but there are significant gaps in the data. With such limited data, mixing rural and urban locations, utility routes and leisure routes, we could not offer a robust estimate for the number of cyclists in Devon.
