Co-Cars

I would love to find out more about Co-Cars relationship with the council and whether the council expects to allocate more grants to the company to help with the expansion of co-bikes or co-cars in the area?

Could you tell me about how the bidding process works?

Could you tell me how much money has been given (if any) to Co-cars in 2022/3?

Co Cars recently went into administration. Devon County Council are considering its options regarding future car club and bike hire schemes, which remain an important part of the integrated transport offer for people living, working or socialising in the city and contributing towards tackling climate change. We are in the process of preparing a tender specification for their replacement, which will determine what future arrangements are put in place.

In 2022/23, £2,583.06 was paid by Devon County Council to Co Cars, of which £613.06 was for staff-related business use car hire and the remainder (£1,970.00) was funding received from the Department for Transport (DfT) in relation to the e-cycle extension fund, which was ringfenced funding that could only be used for this specific purpose.
