Children’s Hospice

This Freedom of Information request is regarding Children’s Hospices which are in the catchment area of your organisation. I define a Children’s Hospice as a hospice that can care for children only or for both children and young people. Regarding these hospices I would like to know:

1. Whether your organisation has received any communications regarding concerns about the care for patients delivered in the hospice or by the hospice team at home between 01-02-2018 and 01-02-2023.

2. How many (if any) of these concerns would be qualified as:
a. complaint
b. whistle blowing
c. safe guarding concern

3. How did your organisation deal with the raised concerns, please provide data per concern:
a. investigation
b. referred to other organisation for investigation
c. no action
d. other (please specify)

In response to questions 1 – 3, Devon County Council believes compliance with this request would exceed the appropriate cost limit under Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 which is £450 or 18 hours of officer time. To locate and extract this information would require the manual review of thousands records.  This is because we do not hold the information in a reportable format and so Section 12 is engaged.
