Yes. Any and all unpaid carers supporting looked after people over the age of 18 who live within the Devon Council footprint are entitled to support from our Devon Carers service.
- For a carer to be eligible, do both the carer and the person they care for need to live in your council area; or just the cared for person?
Just the cared for person.
- Do you have any specific guidance, protocols, or support for long distance carers?
There is nothing specific offered to that cohort, however long-distance carers are entitled to and are offered as much care and support as can be reasonably provided based on their circumstances. Many of the Devon Carers Provider Services can be administered online, including peer support group meetings, carer training, website and links to advice and information as well as a Carer Break Fund payment. Carers Assessments can also be administered over the phone.
