Bus Gates and Lanes

I would like to request the following information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000/Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (as appropriate):

1. How much is the full, undiscounted penalty for a bus gate breach in your authority (i.e. Driving an unpermitted vehicle through a bus gate)?

Penalties for moving traffic offences are set by national legislation.

For first time offences for a period of six months following the ‘go live’ date, warning notices will be issued. These warning notices will not have a charge.

However, after the first offence or after the first 6 months a penalty charge notice (PCN) may be issued. The penalty charge will be £70 (reduced to £35 if paid within 21 days).

2. How many bus gates and bus lanes do you operate in your authority? Please break these down into separate counts of bus lanes and bus gates. If, for cost reasons, it would prove too expensive to provide counts for both, please only provide counts for bus gates.

Records of all bus lanes / bus gates are available within our Traffic Regulation Order system at the following link Traffic Regulation Order System.

3. For the year 2024, please provide the number of bus gate breaches recorded in your authority. For clarity, I am requesting only bus gate breaches rather than bus lane breaches.

We do not hold this information as Moving Traffic Enforcement has not yet launched in this Authority. More information can be found at the following link Moving Traffic Enforcement.
