B3230 safety inspections reports

1. Please confirm the number of road traffic collisions that have occurred on the B3230 where it intersects with Oxenpark Lane (W3W – horns.beard.stared) between 26 January 2024 and 13 June 2025

There have been no collisions recorded between 26/01/2024 and 31/12/2024. No provisional collisions records are held for the period 01/01/2025 to 13/06/2025.

2. Please confirm, in relation to the above, by year, the number of collisions that have resulted in serious injuries, and the number of persons injured in each collision for 2023, 2024 and 2025 to date

There have been no serious injury collisions recorded in 2023, 2024, or provisionally in the period covering 01/01/2025 to date.

3. In relation to 1) the number of road traffic collisions that have resulted in fatalities and the number of persons killed in each occasion.

There have been no fatal injury collisions recorded in 2023, 2024, or provisionally in the period covering 01/01/2025 to date.

4. Please confirm, in relation to the location identified in (1) and 200m either side, the number of Highway Safety Inspections carried out between 26 January 2024 and 13 June 2025.

Total of 9 scheduled Highway Safety Inspections.

3 on the B3230 road from Two Pots to Iron Letters Cross, Ilfracombe.

3 on the B3230 road from Iron Letters Cross to Lynton Cross, Ilfracombe.

2 on Oxenpark Lane (road from Iron Letters Cross to Widmouth Hill, Ilfracombe).

5. In relation to those inspections referred to in (4) please provide details of any defects identified that are likely to create a danger or serious inconvenience to highway users or the wider community.

2 safety defect potholes as defined in the Council’s Highway Safety Policy were identified on Oxenpark Lane (road from Iron Letters Cross to Widmouth Hill, Ilfracombe) within 200m on the junction.

Reference numbers D243870992 and D243870995 on the Safety Inspection Report.

No safety defect potholes were identified within 200m of the junction on the B3230 inspections. (There were signing issues identified that are not defined as Safety Defects in the Council’s Highway Safety Policy )

6. In relation to the same location and time period as in (4) please confirm, as a result of the Highway Safety Inspections reports, the nature of any remedial works carried out.
