Given that animal welfare during transportation is enforced by local councils, and trading standards officials carry out welfare checks on these animals and the means of transport, please, could Devon County Council and their Department for Trading Standard provide the following information:
* The number of checks that have been carried out on animals in transportation who were under Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (ASPA) legislation during 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021?
* The number of checks that have been carried out on courier companies that transport animals from and/or to establishments licenced by ASPA during 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021?
* The number of checks that have been carried out on animal transportation cases involving beagle dogs under ASPA legislation during 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021?
* The number of checks that have carried out on animal transportation cases involving beagle dogs being transported from and/or to establishments licenced by ASRU during 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021?
* The number of checks that have carried out on courier companies that transport beagle dogs from and/or to establishments licenced by ASPA during 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021?
* The number of checks that have been carried out at loading and unloading bays of animals under ASPA legislation during 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021?
Devon County Council’s Trading Standards Service has not conducted any checks relating to the transport of animals covered by the Animals (Scientific Procedures ) Act 1986.
