I would like to know the number of days that the A396 between Tiverton and the turnoff for Thorverton has been closed during the last 5 years from the date of this request.
A year by year analysis would be helpful.
Devon County Council believes compliance with this request would exceed the appropriate cost limit under Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 which is £450 or 18 hours of officer time. To work out how many days this section of road has been closed for, each individual Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTRO) would require checking against every set of works to which they applied to determine if the number of days on the TTRO corresponded. Further investigations may then be required with the works promoter to clarify any timescales.
It is estimated it would take about 30 minutes to raise each TTRO against and approximately another 1-2 hours per TTRO to check it against each set of corresponding street works if further investigations are necessary. As there are 29 records to check with each one taking approximately 2 hours, this would take 58 hours which is over the 18 hours of officer time.
However, we can provide a breakdown of the dates in which TTROs were granted. Please see the following link TTROs granted A396 which provides a list of granted TTROs on Devon County Councils database for the A396 with location references Tiverton, Bampton, Bickley, Cove and Silverton during the period 24 October 2018 and 24 October 2023. Please note that these TTROs are those that had been granted and some may not have been proceeded with.
