1. Are children in your local authority area able to claim for travel expenses to attend Post-16 education or training?
There is no Post 16 entitled travel in Devon except for those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). If transport is given it is decided by an assessment of need panel who may agree a mileage payment.
2. Up to how much can families claim per child per academic year?
Nothing, the panel will decide on a case by case basis.
3. Are claims means tested?
Yes
4. Is there a maximum contribution families are expected to make towards their child’s travel to attend education or training?
If the panel decides to give a concessionary seat, the parental contribution is £800 per annum
5. Is this money provided only through a budget allocated by the local authority?
No
6. Do you receive any Education and Skills Finding Agency (ESFA) to top up this grant?
No, the Transport Co-ordination Service who manages home to school transport do not receive such a grant.
