For each of the school years commencing September 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 please can you kindly confirm the number of children who have delayed their entry to Reception to a year later who have a date of birth before April 1st (of the relevant year).
For example, a child born in March 2014 who delayed their reception from September 2018 to September 2019.
To be able to defer entry by a whole academic year, the child must be summer born. The Department for Education definition of a summer born child is a child born between the 1st April and the 31st August. Therefore, requests for children born in March would not have delayed admission agreed because they are not summer born.
