Please could you answer the following questions in relation to potholes. Please note that reported means those reported by members of the public and planned inspections.

1. Total number of potholes reported in your council area between the years 2020 and 2023 to date and the total number of potholes fixed in your council area between the years 2020 and 2023 to date.

Please note the instructed column was when they were passed to a contractor and this figure is made up of potholes reported to Devon (and verified by inspectors), as well as potholes that were picked up on routine formal inspections. The completed column is how many were then repaired. Instructed and completed are never the same figure as they will involve defects that have been carried over.

2020/21 – £98,298.

2021/22 – £38,746.

2022/23 – £35,418.

2023/24 to date – £48,258.

5. The road name in your area which has received the most pothole reports over the past 5 years, and the total amount of reports made.

Between 2019 and 2023 (inclusive), the road with the most potholes identified either through formal inspections or from public reports was the road past Thorne Park, Ashwater with a total of 665.
