Exmouth Residents Parking Scheme

1.When are the new restrictions planned to take place?

Following the decision of the East Devon Highways and Traffic Orders Committee on 9 December 2022, works are being arranged to implement the restrictions agreed. It is currently proposed that the restrictions be implemented in Summer 2023.

2. When is it intended that the printed decisions of the meeting be published online?

The minutes of the meeting were published shortly after the meeting on our democracy Devon website.

3. Which company/companies will be responsible for the enforcement of the restrictions, hanging signage and painting road markings?

Devon County Council will be responsible for enforcing the restrictions and arranging the signs and road markings.

4. Who is responsible for designing the methodology of the parking scheme?

Devon County Council Officers and Councillors have worked together on the proposals.

5. What is the plan for parking displacement for all the other residents zones?

It is always recognised that when introducing new restrictions that some parking will displace. The original proposals were drafted considering this and the area considered was large enough area
that it was considered displacement would be negligible. After considering the comments from the statutory consultation, the decision has been made to scale back the proposals. It is recognised that some of these areas may experience displaced parking but this is not guaranteed. This is one of the reasons why it has agreed to review the restrictions and the impact once they have been
implemented, and report back to the East Devon Highways and Traffic Orders Committee in December 2023.

6. In the original report it was assumed that commuters would seek public transport as opposed to park in other zones in Exmouth. Has any data been gathered on this?

8. The original report (suggesting all zones have parking permits) was the basis for all of the equality and environmental considerations. however, now only 2 zones have been imposed parking restrictions, will there be a new report considering the changes to the proposed scheme prior to the planning of implementing the scheme?

No. The report to the December HATOC meeting considered matters in light of the recommendations.
