West Alvington, West Alvington Cross To Ilbert Road

With respect to the West Alvington Cross To Ilbert Road and under the Freedom of Information Act, I would like you to send me details of when and whom inspected the area and also, when the re-surfacing was deemed necessary such that the series of potholes were so bad that the road was resurfaced.

The road was inspected on 13 December 2017 by the Devon County Council highways contractors Skanska and no defects, including potholes, were identified. This inspection was a routine inspection.

Separate to this, under the 2017-18 Devon Highways Scheme, the road was inspected on 2nd March 2017. The report completed following that inspection can be viewed via the link below:

The decision to resurface the road was therefore taken because of a “loss of asphalt” and not because of an issue with potholes.
