Unacceptable Behaviour Policy

“It has come to my attention that your Council imposed a lifetime ban prohibiting a member of the public from emailing officers, councillors and or employees. Because you provide no end date, nor provide a review, kindly provide a copy of that authority which you believe empowers your Council to ban this and similarly any other member of the public.”

We consider this information to be exempt under Section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 – ‘Personal Information’. Release of  information relating to another individual would breach the principles of the Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Devon County Council publishes a Customer Notice related to its Unacceptable Behaviour Policy which outlines the reasons why the Council sometimes prohibits members of the public from contacting the Council where their behaviour is considered to be unacceptable, and what form(s) this prohibition may take.
