Stoke Fleming Road Closure Documentation

“Stoke Fleming in the South Hams District has been adversely affected by road closures and roadworks associated with infrastructure installations for fibre cable.  This request is for all documented information associated with ‘the project’, that being the closure of roads and access in Stoke Fleming including all side roads and country lanes as well as the A379.

We should expect the investigation to cover the period Jan 2017 through to present time. All file correspondence involving the decision processes that included Gigaclear to be selected as a prime contractor/ supplier of new fibre broadband. We understand this Company was awarded contracts in 2017.

Also all DCC processes and records of its involvement in the approval of the project and authorisation granted to contractors for works and road closures etc. Also the considerations given by DCC to consultation with taxpayers, other local authority bodies, residents and businesses.

We have interpreted ‘the project’ to refer to the Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) Broadband project. More information about that, including published documents, can be viewed via the link provided.

To provide advice and assistance, details of Road Closures and Notices in the Stoke Fleming area since January 2017 are provided, but none relate to the CDS project.

References to Gigaclear refer to road closures resulting from their contracts with third parties such as utility companies, and not with CDS or Devon County Council.

The project approvals granted to the Contractors, and the bodies responsible.  –
