In Devon Local Authority Maintained schools, there are four separate Teaching Assistant posts, graded at B, C, D and E on the Devon pay scales. The relevant scales are provided below. The  numerical points are not sequential but are a feature of the agreed pay ranges.

The Higher Level Teaching Assistant Post in Devon is Grade E. The scale for this post is provided in the response to Q1.

ASD Advisory Teachers are paid on the relevant Teachers Pay scales.

Grade B – Level 1 Induction/basic skills and good numeracy and literacy skills
Grade C – NVQ2 and good numeracy and literacy skills
Grade D – NVQ3 plus numeracy and literacy skills at least equivalent to level 2 of the NQF
Grade E – Higher level specialism / Management responsibilities. NVQ4 plus numeracy and literacy skills at least equivalent to level 2 of the NQF

The Council has an Occupational Therapy contract but it is for specific children not specific schools. This is provided by Children and Family Health Devon – Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust

Direct speech and language therapy intervention is delivered to individual young people in their education setting where this is part of an individual child’s Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).

15c How much Therapy (Speech and Language and/or Occupational Therapy) is provided under these contracts within the setting set out above; how often; by whom (Qualified Therapist or Teaching Assistant)?

Direct speech and language therapy intervention delivered to individual young people in their education setting where this is part of an individual child’s EHCP. This will be individual for each child or young person based on need. Any Occupational Therapy provision provided under the contract is provided by a qualified therapist. The quantity and how often would again be attributed to an individual child.

15d Which schools are provided with Therapy (Speech and Language and/or Occupational Therapy) within Devon County Council area?

This contract is not attributed to specific school but for specific young people where this is identified in their EHCP.
