* Any policy, guidance or materials provided or used by your local authority to help schools in your area deal with cases of peer on peer abuse
* I am specifically interested in any policy, guidance or materials designed to give schools advice on how they should manage cases of peer on peer abuse where both the alleged abuser and victim are both pupils at the school in question
* However, please provide me with any policy, guidance or materials provided to schools on the general subject of peer on peer abuse
* If your local authority does not have any specific policy, guidance or materials relating to how schools should deal with cases of peer on peer abuse, then please indicate this.
Devon County Council has not created any specific policy, guidance or materials for schools on the subject of peer on peer sexual abuse. However, it is referred to in Section 23 of the current model child protection and safeguarding policy for schools, (available on the Babcock LDP website – https://www.babcock-education.co.uk/ldp/) and was the subject of a workshop at the annual Safeguarding Conference in June 2016 which was on the theme of sexual abuse, including peer on peer abuse.
Following a recent Multi-Agency Case Audit on sexual abuse a recent series of master classes were delivered by the Devon Safeguarding Children Board to practitioners, including schools, and this included peer on peer abuse.
On the DSCB website (http://www.devonsafeguardingchildren.org/) ,there is a guidance document for schools on sexual behaviour in children and this provides advice for schools on what to do if they are concerned about inappropriate sexual behaviour, including the use of the AIM2 Risk Assessment Tool.
All the safeguarding training sessions, which schools can purchase from Babcock LDP, refer to the issue of sexual abuse, including peer on peer abuse. In addition, termly safeguarding forums and half termly safeguarding newsletters for schools, have referred to useful websites and materials (for example from CEOP, the NSPCC etc) which schools can access
