Permanent exclusions from school 2015-2019

Please provide:

1. A list of permanent exclusions from your area’s schools in the 2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/2018, 2018/19 academic years, organised by the name of the school and date, including the reason for each of these exclusions. (Please also include the age and academic year (Reception to Year 13)
a. If the reason is listed as ‘other’ please provide further detail of this case.

A list of exclusions, as defined by the name of the school and date and for each academic year, including the reason for the exclusion, would risk identification of the pupils concerned.   This would be a breach of the first data protection principle and is therefore exempt from disclosure pursuant to s.40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

By way of advice and assistance, we can instead provide the following breakdown by geographical region and for the academic years requested:

2. For each of these permanent exclusion cases, a note on what happened to the student after the exclusion (e.g. enrolled in another school, sent to pupil referral unit etc)

3. Any appeals in these years reviewed by an Independent Review Panel [IRP] and the decision made by the IRP, including any documents which explain the panel’s reasoning.
