National Street Gazetteer and Additional Street Data

I would like a copy of any documentation provided by Devon County Council to Geoplace for the purposes of the NSG along with any ASD provided since Geoplace’s inception in 2011, relating to the following three streets:
• Sea Lawn Terrace, EX7 0AD (all house/flat numbers and names)
• Riviera Terrace, EX7 0AE, numbers 1 to 7
• Crossways (also known as 8-11 Riviera Terrace), EX7 0AE.
In addition, please let me know if 7A Riviera Terrace is included in Riviera Terrace (1-7) or in Crossways (Riviera Terrace 8-11)

I understand that prior to Geoplace’s inception, Ordnance Survey (OS) held the NSG and ASD, and that OS remain responsible for mapping.

Devon County Council send a monthly update of the National Street Gazetteer (From hereafter the NSG) to Geoplace. This information is sent electronically.

Devon County Council do not hold historic additional street data therefore we only have information on the current records we hold, this is why some of the dates below are before Geoplace started to monitor the NSG.  For information regarding the streets in question please see the table available attached via the link below:

With reference to the table:

Dedication – Indicates what a section of the network is used for. Dedication records were introduced nationally on the 1st of October 2016 when the NSG data structure changed.
Street interest records – These records convey the maintenance responsibility for a section of the network
Street construction records – These records display what specification a road is built to, if the street is private the Local highway authority will only have it designated as a Private street and hold no specification for its construction.

Request two:
I would like a copy of any documentation provided by Devon County Council to Ordnance Survey (OS) for the purposes of mapping since 1st January 2007 and for the purposes of the NSG along with any ASD provided from 1st January 2007 until Geoplace’s inception, relating to the following three streets:
• Sea Lawn Terrace, EX7 0AD (all house/flat numbers and names)
• Riviera Terrace, EX7 0AE, numbers 1 to 7
• Crossways (also known as 8-11 Riviera Terrace), EX7 0AE.
In addition, please let me know if 7A Riviera Terrace is included in Riviera Terrace (1-7) or in Crossways (Riviera Terrace 8-11)

Devon County Council do not have direct contact with Ordnance Survey for the purposes of the NSG. Ordnance Survey acquire their data through Geoplace and through surveying the Highway Network with their own staff.

With regards to providing NSG data including ASD (Additional Street Data) from the 1st of January 2007, please refer to our response to question 1 above as Devon County Council do not hold any other information for the streets requested.

Crossways (Devon County Council have no record of this name), 8-11 Riviera Terrace, is included with Riviera Terrace although the geometry of the street drawn on the map does not cover houses 8-11. These houses are linked to the street through their address.

Request three:
Please can you clarify which department at Devon County Council is responsible for submitting the above information to the National street gazetteer and Ordnance Survey.

The team responsible for NSG and submitting data to Geoplace are the Highway Asset data team
