Looked after children data and some context to the figures provided, as a child could be placed multiple times within each month and therefore the numbers supplied will not necessarily add up to the total children each month

How many looked-after children have been placed into unregistered children’s homes in each of the last three calendar years (2018,2019, 2020  so far). Please break this down by month. Of those children how many:

were placed into accommodation in the authority area;

were placed into accommodation outside of the authority area

There are no unregulated childrens homes, therefore this information is not held. Under the Care Standards Act 2000 all children’s homes are required to register with Ofsted. Any children’s home service not registered and providing service would be classified as an ‘unregistered’ service and therefore illegal. Devon County Council would not place a young person into an unregistered illegal children’s home.
