The Food Law Code of Practice made under the Food Safety Act allocates primary responsibility for investigating issues of microbiological contamination or chemical contamination that might pose an imminent risk to public health (“Food Poisoning”) to District and Unitary Councils; a function usually enforced by their Environmental Health services. The district and unitary councils also deal with the registration of food business premises.
Devon County Council (DCC) suggest, therefore, that the above questions should be directed to District Councils in the Devon and Torbay areas as this information is not held by DCC.
