These questions relate to the information which is collected on a monthly basis for the Unify2 Data Collection – Delayed Transfer of Care, NHS Organisations, England. We are interested in the statistics which count the Number of Patients with a Delayed Transfer of Care at midnight on the last Thursday of the reporting period, Acute and Non-Acute, for NHS Organisations in England by the responsible organisation.
Delayed transfers of care data is publicly available from the following NHS website: https://www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/statistical-work-areas/delayed-transfers-of-care/
This data uses a snapshot of patients delayed on the last Thursday of each month and a total count of delayed days for the entire month. The delayed day’s data is therefore not comparable with the number of patient’s data.
1) For the month of March 2017, please tell us how many individuals in Devon appear within the following Delayed Transfer of Care categories:
Di) Awaiting residential home placements or availability
Dii) Awaiting nursing home or placement or availability
E) Awaiting care package in own home
The table below shows how many individuals were delayed at midnight on Thursday 30th March 2017 where local authority is Devon County Council:
|Di) Awaiting residential home placements or availability||20|
|Dii) Awaiting nursing home or placement or availability||11|
|E) Awaiting care package in own home||23|
2) Please tell us how many of the individuals listed at 1) above are aged 64 or under (i.e. born during or after 1953).
We do not hold this information and are unable to reconcile the Delayed Transfers of Care (DTOC) data provided by the NHS Trusts with our own social care system. The DTOC data is a snapshot of the number of patients delayed at midnight on the last Thursday in March. The data does not contain any person IDs and shows numbers aggregated by reason for delay and by the attributable body (NHS, Social Care or Both). Data on age groups would have to be obtained from the individual NHS Trusts who provided data for delayed patients for the snapshot in March 2017
Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust

Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust
Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
3) In total, how many days delayed have the people listed at 2) above experienced?
We do not hold this information for the individuals listed for Q2) as explained above.
