Between 01/04/16 and 31/03/17, 127 Children aged 16 and 17 left care and did not return within that year. Children are not considered to be in care once they have reached their 18th Birthday hence there are no 18 or over who have left care.

We only have the information to show how many payments were made to young people during this period – however please note that the Setting Up Home allowance could have been initiated in a previous financial year.
15/16 year olds – 228 were provided with a payment.
16/17 year olds – 212 were provided with a payment.

27 Care Leavers are currently at University. Devon County Council is underwriting 16 of these.

15/16 year olds – 20 were provided with a £2,000 bursary.
16/17 year olds – 36 were provided with a £2,000 bursary.
The bursary can be requested in any year up to the age of 25.

No requests have been made for Devon County Council to support a young person with their own business.
