How many care home residents have been moved to a care home out of their local area?

All answers are based on data from 1st April 2018 to 31st January 2020.

112 people moved to a care home outside of the Devon County Council boundary between those dates. This excludes those who were moved to a care home within the boundary of Plymouth City Council or Torbay Council.

Of those who have been moved to a care home out of their local authority, how many were below the age of 65, and how many were aged 65 and above.

45 were between 18 – 64 and 212 were 65+

For those who have been moved to a care home out of their local authority, please provide information about where they were sent. OR how far away they were sent (in miles or km).

We hold this information but as disclosure may identify individuals we believe the information is exempt under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 Section 40(2) Personal Data.

For those who have been moved to a care home out of their local authority, where possible please provide the reason for why they were moved.

We do not record the reason a person has moved to a home outside of the boundary of Devon County Council, therefore we do not hold this information.

Please provide all of the data for the last financial year up to the time this request is answered. I.e. for the entire 2018/19 financial year as well as the remaining months up to the time that this request is answered. If feasible, please break this data up by month.
