1. Do you have plans in place to make 20mph the norm or default speed limit for
most restricted roads?
Devon County Council’s current Policy can be viewed on this Devon County Council webpage. Our work to implement and study 20mph limits is intended to inform future Policy on the setting of 20mph speed limits.
2. Have you requested the UK Government to set 20mph as the default speed limit for restricted roads in England?
No, the Authority has not made such a request to the UK Government.
3. Are you committed to Vision Zero as part of your traffic/transport strategy?
The County Council is committed to Vision Zero as part of its ongoing transport strategy work and is involved in a collaborative partnership project with blue light services, the office of the police and crime commissioner, National Highways and other highway authorities across Devon and Cornwall. The goal of this partnership is to cut road deaths and serious injuries to zero by 2040 – and to reduce current numbers by 50% by 2030.
