A map of all areas where off-road vehicles can be used within Devon
Devon County Council does not hold a map of all areas where off-road vehicles can be used within Devon.
Guidance on the classification of which type of public right of way is appropriate for use by off road vehicles is outlined on the Devon County Council website at What are public rights of way? – Public Rights of Way (devon.gov.uk)
This is limited to Byways (Byways Open to All Traffic), which are predominantly used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders. Public Rights of Way are identified on this interactive map. Byways are shown using a red line.
The webpage guidance also references Green Lanes. Many of these are recorded as unsurfaced roads and marked as ’12 Track’ on the highways network online map at Data – Roads and transport (devon.gov.uk).
As is the case for all public highways, vehicles and drivers need to be road legal (i.e. taxed, insured, current valid MOT, appropriately licenced driver etc.). Vehicle drivers should be considerate and give way to other path users.
