Uffculme Parish Council applied to Highways for a 20mph zone through the village. I would like details of the scoring and the priority given to various aspect of the application, and the reasons for rejecting the application.
The decision selecting which ‘Expression of Interest’ application for new 20mph speed limits was made by Devon County Council’s (DCC’s) Cabinet on Wednesday 13th July 2022. The actual report can be found on this DCC webpage.
All the applications were reviewed against an agreed framework. This framework is shown in Appendix 1 of the above report.
No applications have been rejected as they all remain on the list of requested new 20mph speed limits, but the implementation of further schemes is subject to future funding.
The scoring for each element of the framework for Uffculme is as below.
Both Elected Members and Town/Parish Council supported the application.
| Name of Community/Location | Score for Collisions | Identify features within 20MPH zone | Footway? | Pedestrian facilities? | Air Quality Management? | Community Speed Watch Scheme | Index of Multiple Deprivation Score | A Road Score | B Road Score | C Road Score | Traffic Speed Score | Total Points (scoring matrix) | Ranking |
| Uffculme | 2 | 4 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 2 | -3 | 0 | 1 | 2 | 4 | 13 | 6 |
