Please note that 2020 was the first year that DCC switched to yearly inspection, so sites over half of the county that year would have had two years accumulated defects  and half of the county only one. For 2021 all sites had been inspected the previous year so all sites would have had only one year’s accumulated defects. This accounts for the greater total of trees felled in 2020.

Note that felling trees does not necessarily equate to killing trees, many of those felled will regrow, which is why it is often impossible to replant in situ.
