In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I’d be most grateful if you can provide me with the following information in relation to the Council’s carbon reduction strategy
1. How much CO2e does the Council produce under Scopes 1, 2 and 3?
Please see Devon County Council’s annual Carbon Footprint Report for this information.
2. How often does the Council calculate your Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions?
Please see Devon County Council’s annual Carbon Footprint Report for this information.
3. Which of the Council’s activities are included in your Scope 3 emissions calculations?
Please see Devon County Council’s annual Carbon Footprint Report for this information.
4. What is the estimated financial budget to meet your Net Zero/Carbon Neutral target?
Please see Devon County Council’s Carbon Reduction Plan for this information.
5. How much has been spent to date in reaching your Net Zero/Carbon Neutral target?
Devon County Council believes compliance with this request would exceed the appropriate costs limit under section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 which is £450 or 18 hours of officer time.
This is because Devon County Council has been implementing carbon reduction projects since 2005. Over the past 18 years there have been so many projects that to compile the list of projects, then find for each one how much was spent would easily exceed the appropriate costs limit.
By way of advice and assistance, we can confirm that we have allocated £2M capital and £200,000 revenue total for 2021/22 and 2022/23 to begin implementing our latest Carbon Reduction Plan.
6. How are you financing this investment?
This investment is financed via our own revenue and capital budgets and UK Government and European Union funding.
