Devon County Council (DCC) employed one Educational Psychologist from April 2021. It should be noted that the main provision for Educational Psychology Service in Devon is commissioned through Babcock LDP. They provide our Educational Psychology Service and fulfil the Local Authority statutory SEND duties and additional Educational Psychologist support for specific projects which support vulnerable groups.

The Babcock Educational Psychology Service does not operate a waiting list for children and young people to see an Educational Psychologist. The educational settings agree deployment of the Educational Psychologist time purchased in partnership with their Educational Psychologist. Devon County Council request specific pieces of work from the Educational Psychology Service and individual Educational Psychologists are then deployed to complete this.

None, however schools do commission Education Psychology Services from Babcock LDP to work in their schools.

A national shortage of Educational Psychologists, cost of living in Devon, limited training places leading to limited graduates entering the profession.
