Parental Alienation

1) Copies of any policies you have, particularly used in Children Services, relating to what is commonly referred to as ‘parental alienation’ – that is, the child’s resistance to/rejection of one parent which is attributed to the influence of the other parent.

We do not hold any children’s services policies but staff can access Cafcass guidance entitled Operating Framework

2) Copies of any policies you have, particularly used in Children Services, relating to what practices/remedies etc might be employed when the Local Authority believes it is dealing with a case of ‘parental alienation’.

This information is not held. See previous response.

3) Whether staff in Children Services are made aware that parental alienation is not recognised by either of the main diagnostic manuals for (mental) health – the ICD-10 / 1CD-11, published by the UN’s World Health Organization, and the DSM-5, published by the American Psychiatric Association (ASA)

We do not have training specific to parental alienation. See previous response to question 1

Please note that Devon County Council publishes most responses to Freedom of Information and Environmental Information Regulations requests. These are publicly available on the disclosure log.  Details of a previous request can be found under Parental alienation training
