The timing of the project is tied to the spend profile set out in the Business Case, produced to secure funding from the Department of Transport.
After establishing that a full closure was the least impactive method of closure and receiving confirmation of funding in July 2025, it was essential to commence works as soon as feasible to maintain that programme. No discussion was held on the subject.
2. Any documents considering alternative dates or seasons for carrying out the works.
3. Any documents assessing the impact of carrying out the works during the peak summer tourist season.
Regarding questions 2 and 3, DCC does not hold this information.
In the interests of providing advice and assistance, DCC can confirm that as the construction period spans more than two years, it was not possible to avoid any particular seasons.
