Battisborough Cross and Whitemoor Cross

1. I would like to know the number of complaints and their dates made to Devon County Council (DCC) Highways for the road between Battisborough Cross and Whitemoor Cross in the South Hams in the last 12 months.

Compliance with this request would exceed the appropriate cost limit under Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 which is £450 or 18 hours of officer time. We don’t record complaints against specific roads, but rather against the specific team involved in the work complained about. We would therefore need to read all highways related complaints received in the period mentioned in order to ascertain whether they referred to that stretch of road. A conservative estimate is that there would be 946 complaints to review. At 5 minutes each, this would take in excess of 70 hours to complete and therefore over the 18 hours of officer time.

Under the Act, there is a duty to provide advice and assistance as to how a request can be refined to fit within the appropriate limit. Unfortunately, due to the way the data is held, this is not possible for this request.

2. The date of all inspections on that road in the last 12 months.

3. The recommendations (including the rating of potholes) on each of those inspections.

4. When work was carried out following those inspections and any outstanding work required from the results of inspections – again in the last 12 months.
