(1) on how many occasions in the past 6 years plans have been developed to improve access to County Hall for people who have mobility issues with steps but are not so disabled as to require a wheelchair.
Devon County Council has not explicitly recorded how many occasions plans have been developed to improve access at County Hall in the past 6 years. DCC are committed to an ongoing review of disability access across our buildings, working closely with our Equality, Inclusion and Diversity team. At County Hall there is a covered walkway entrance, which has a dropped kerb and disabled parking bays nearby to assist those with mobility issues.
(2) whether the status of County Hall as a listed building has inhibited the implementation of such plans.
County Hall listed status does mean that listed building consent is required for most projects. We work closely with planners and Historic England to achieve suitable solutions.
