Traffic Enforcement Cameras

I would appreciate clarification on the functionality of the enforcement cameras at the following locations in Exeter:
1. Bridge Road (Between Countess Wear and Matford Roundabout)
* There are two cameras positioned on both the northbound and southbound carriageways.
* I previously understood that these cameras might enforce mobile phone and seatbelt infractions, but upon reflection, I am reconsidering whether they are limited to speed and red light offenses only.
* Can you confirm whether these cameras are exclusively used for speed and red light enforcement, or if they are currently equipped (or planned to be equipped) for mobile phone and seatbelt detection?

The two cameras at Bridge Road enforce speed. There are no plans for mobile phone\distraction and seatbelt enforcement.

2. Topsham Road and Alphington (Near Sainsbury’s)
* Similarly, I have observed cameras positioned in these areas.
* From my understanding, they appear to be set up for speed and red light enforcement rather than mobile phone or seatbelt violations.
* Can you confirm whether these cameras are strictly used for speed and red light offenses, or if they have the capability to detect in-car infractions?

On Alphington Road near Sainsbury’s, the camera is a red light and speed enforcement camera
On Topsham Road near Barrack Road, the camera is a red light and speed enforcement camera.
On Topsham Road near the Burnthouse Lane junction, the camera is a red light and speed enforcement camera
On Topsham Rd near Rivermead Road, the camera is a speed enforcement camera

3. Potential Camera Installation on Exe Bridge
* Given the frequent congestion and traffic flow issues, particularly due to vehicles stopping on the box junctions, I believe that enforcement cameras could improve traffic flow and compliance in this area.
* Are there any plans to install VECTOR or ANPR cameras on Exe Bridge to monitor and enforce box junction violations?

Any Home Office Type Approved speed or red light enforcement camera, including a Vector, is not approved for any other enforcement uses. An ANPR enforcement camera for moving traffic offences like contravening a box junction, is approved by the Vehicle Certification Agency and cannot be used for speed or red light camera enforcement activities.  At this time, there are no current intentions to undertake further enforcement at this location
