Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I would like to request the following information, regarding children’s social care placements in your local authority:
1. How much was spent on each year since 2014 on a) private and b) council-maintained children’s residential and foster care placements?

2. What is the current proportion of children’s residential and foster care placements used by your council between a) private providers and b) council-maintained placements.
As at 23rd May 2024;
a) 45% of children in residential and foster placements are with private providers
b) 52% of children in residential and foster placements are in Own LA provision
Please note the percentage doesn’t add to 100% as we have some children in placements with Voluntary/third sector, Other LA & Other public provisions.
