Violence to teachers from pupils

Please could you let me know in what capacity teachers at both primary and secondary schools have experienced violence and abuse from pupils between September 2022- July 2023 and September 2023- March 2024. This would be in accordance with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) definition of work-related violence being any situation where a person is abused, threatened or assaulted in circumstances relating to their work.

I would like these figures broken down into:

Which age group of student commits the most amount of violence and abuse towards their teachers broken down into year groups from year 1 through to year 13.

Which racial/ethnic group of students commits the most amount of violence and abuse towards their teachers?

Which group of students based on socio-economic background commits the most amount of violence and abuse towards their teachers?

I would also like to know:

What kind of abuse or violence was most common and has this affected the teacher drop-out rate?

How were the pupils involved dealt with after having committed abuse or violence towards their teachers?

Please note, Devon County Council do not hold all the information requested. We can only provide information on suspensions and permanent exclusions due to physical assault on an adult and verbal abuse/threats against an adult, alongside the individuals ethnic origin.

This can be found at the following link Suspensions and Exclusions.

For all other information, please contact the schools directly at the following link Schools Information.
