LTNs, Potholes and Rifford Road Cycle Lane cost

Please confirm how much money has been spent on the Low Traffic Neighbourhoods in both Heavitree and Whipton since the trial began. This does NOT include government funded monies. This includes repairs due to vandalism, any cameras/monitors that have been installed for LTN purposes or anything else deemed to be in relation to the LTN’s.

£161,720 has been spent so far. Please note this is entirely funded by the Capability and Ambition Fund allocated to Devon County Council by Active Travel England.

Please also confirm how much money has been spent on the repairing of potholes in Exeter (please breakdown specific areas if possible, i.e. Heavitree, Whipton, St Thomas).

The current cost reimbursable payment mechanism we use within our term maintenance contract, which includes reactive maintenance and therefore repair of defects e.g. potholes, is such that we are unable to provide cost information for specific repairs and therefore geographical location. For information, the average cost per pothole repair to date this financial year is around £101. This includes all costs associated with plant, materials, labour, traffic management, sub-contractor costs, fees and overheads associated with repairs between 0-1sqm. In Exeter this financial year we have completed 1,812 pothole repairs. The defined area use for this data enquiry can be found at the following link Pothole Repairs.

Is there a specific budget for the repairing of potholes? If so, what was the figure for 2023/24. Has this money been spent specifically on fixing potholes and if not, why not?

The Countywide budget for safety defect repairs for the financial year 2023/24 is £6,748,000.00. This includes repairs of pothole defects but also a range of other safety defect types e.g. abrupt level differences, signing and lining and overgrown vegetation.

Please confirm how much the new cycle Lane in Rifford Rd will cost and where this money has come from. If it is partly funded outside of DCC, please specify from where and the amount of funding.
