Cyclists on Sweetbriar Lane Cycle Path

Please can you supply me a weekly breakdown of the number of cyclists using the double width Sweetbriar Lane cycle path since it was put in? Ongoing monitoring of usage is crucial before implementing more and more paths at tax payers expense, just to make sure we are getting value for money.

Manual counts have been carried out on the Sweetbriar Lane / Vaughan Road junction on single days in September 2021, March 2022 and September 2023. The table below shows the cycle usage for the AM peak, PM peak and 12-hour totals. Weekly breakdown of data is not available.

Also is there ongoing cleaning/maintenance schedule for these dedicated cycle paths?

Devon County Council does not have an ongoing cleaning schedule for cycle paths. Street sweeping is a responsibility of Exeter City Council under the Environmental Protection Act.

Devon County Council as highway authority do undertake regular safety inspections of cycle paths and respond to any safety defects identified in accordance with policy. Highway Safety Policy vers 6.1 effective 1st January 2021
