Deficit in Medium Term Financial Strategy

1. How much deficit/pressure/overspend have you identified in your Medium Term Financial Strategy IN (a) 2024-25 (b) 2025-26 and (c) 2026-27?

Key Table 4, page 12 provides the latest published figures for 2025/26 and 2026/27.

The Authority is in the process of setting budgets for 2024/25, following the announcement of the Local Government Provisional Financial Settlement on 18 December 2023.

The Authority expects to agree a balanced budget for 2024/25 and Cabinet approved the budget service targets for 2024/25 at its meeting on 10 January 2024.

During January 2024 the Authority’s Scrutiny Committees will be undertaking a review of the proposed detailed service budgets for 2024/25.

An updated Medium Term Financial Strategy (years 2025/26, 2026/27 and 2027/28) along with the final budget for 2024/25 will be published in the agenda papers for the Cabinet meeting on 9th February, 2024.
