Heavitree and Whipton LTN

Please would you send me all correspondence and minutes of meetings held between Devon County Council and The local Royal Mail Management Delivery and Distribution teams both prior to , and subsequently in relation to the current Active Street trial (LTN) in Exeter which is nearly 2 months in. As a vital community service providing a legally bound Universal Service Obligation it is unthinkable consultation would not have been undertaken given the wide ranging ramifications to service for the large communities and businesses affected

We can confirm the following timeline of correspondence:

  • * 10 July 2023 – Transport Planning make contact with Head of Delivery for the Exeter and Torquay Postcode Area at Royal Mail, using contact details supplied by Exeter City Council
  • * 1 August 2023 – Having received no response, Transport Planning contact Exeter City Council’s Service Lead for Environmental Health and Community Safety / Waste, Recycling and Fleet to see if they can suggest an alternative contact, but they are unable to assist.
  • * 22 September 2023 – Transport Planning send a follow up email to Head of Delivery for the Exeter and Torquay Postcode Area, inviting feedback now that the trial scheme had commenced. They suggest contacting three managers, however after sending emails to the three addresses supplied, automatic responses were received indicating two emails could not be delivered. Transport Planning therefore request confirmation that the addresses are correct, but have received no response to date.

We can therefore confirm that no meetings have taken place and Royal Mail have not responded to the correspondence.   The actual correspondence contains personal contact details and is therefore exempt from disclosure pursuant to section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
