With reference to the manual traffic counts you are planning to carry out in September please can you supply me with the following information:

1) Who does the ‘manual traffic counts’?

A professional traffic survey company.

2) How are they chosen?

Devon County Council employ the most suitable traffic survey company that provides the best value-for-money, from a list of nationwide companies available on our Call-off Framework contract, to provide traffic surveys to all local authorities in the South West.

3) What qualifications do they have?

They will be a reputable and experienced company who have recently provided a good and reliable service across the region as a whole. Furthermore, as part of the qualification for the above mentioned contract, they will have provided evidence that have the necessary qualifications to work on the public highway.

4) Are they independent?

Yes, they are totally independent. Devon County Council do not share the reasons why any surveys need to be undertaken, they simply report what they see on the specified survey dates.

5) What date is the Manual Traffic Count planned to take place?

Manual Traffic Counts are planned to take place on a neutral day, during the school term, in September.
