The Ridgetop Park will be a new, large, public park. It is proposed as ‘suitable alternative natural green space’ (SANGS) and is being delivered to mitigate the impact that the collective additional population from new development may otherwise have on the Exe Estuary.
Planning permission has been granted for some parcels of the Ridgetop Park to convert it from agricultural use. These parcels will be planted to enhance existing habitats and establish new habitats, with pathways and interpretation incorporated to enable good-quality public access.
The first parts of the Ridgetop Park (20 hectares) are expected to open in early 2021, with further parts to be established and opened for the public over the next few years. The Ridgetop Park will be easily accessible on-foot for many new residents, with small areas of car parking also delivered to enable wider public access.
