Ridgetop Park

The Ridgetop Park is a new, large, public park. It is proposed as ‘suitable alternative natural green space’ (SANGS) and is being delivered to mitigate the impact that the collective additional population from new development may otherwise have on the Exe Estuary.

Planning permission has been granted for some parcels of the Ridgetop Park to convert it from agricultural use. The parcels have been planted to enhance existing habitats and establish new habitats, with pathways and interpretation incorporated to enable a high-quality visitor experience with wide-reaching views and chances to learn about the heritage of the local area.

A successful official opening event for the park was held in August 2023, with the unveiling of a sundial and activities to learn about the park’s natural habitats. Further sections are due to be opened as they are established.

Walkers and cyclists are able to enter the park via an entrance at the top of Deepway Lane, by the junction with Old Matford Lane. Two small car parks have also been provided via Trood Lane and Stapleton Way.
